Artist Statement

My mission is to create a visual narrative that highlights the importance of uniting individuals into a cohesive state of  “Global Consciousness”. Through this effort and practice I wish to create a space that encourages a tolerant dialogue between individuals, where new connections can thrive and the strength of unity becomes overpowering.

Individualist ideology is spreading through our communal body, much like how a cancer grows — when a single cell is no longer in harmony with the rest of the system, separation and sickness prevails.

The difficult times in which we live in affect all and each one of us. Despite thousands of years in this Earth, humans have still not been able to learn that violence generates violence and the only way to live is by loving and being compassionate. Political unrest, wars, terrorism, social injustice, lies, corruption…. They divide us and make us hate one another in defense of ideas that will be vanished when we all transform to dust. In our grave there will be no space for flags, in our short period of existence we shouldn’t have time to do any harm.

I am well aware of the issues humanity is facing and it is my mission to deliver a message of peace and unity in these times of uncertainty. I create my paintings of symbolic androgynous faces with both of my hands simultaneously, representing the untapped potential of our brain’s ability to configure new connections when we forget our individualism and think collectively. The faces represent all of us, our oneness, and it’s my hope that they raise awareness of how our collective capacity for love and compassion can take us to a higher state of consciousness. All similar but each with their own characteristic role in the web of Humanity. We are the threads and it needs every single person to hold our tapestry together.

No matter whether you are left or right wing, gay or straight, men or women, black or white, atheist or religious. If you are involved politically or if you don’t care at all; if you live a comfortable life or if you struggle every day to make it through. In my art, our differences fade away and all the characteristics and circumstances that we used to think divided us individually are reduced to our one and only existential reality, our humanness. I want the viewer to look at my art and realize that in our one beautiful life there is no place for individualism, there is no place for conflict: we are alive, we are in harmony with one another, we are enjoying the privilege of simply BEING.
